Van Buren, NY - On March 9, 2021 at approximately 3:10 p.m., State Police received a report of menacing complaint that occurred at the I-90 and I-690 interchange in the town of Van Buren.  A truck driver reported that a male driving a silver Toyota Prius pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him while traveling on the Thruway.

Responding Troopers located and stopped the Toyota on I-90 at exit 40 (Weedsport).  Upon interviewing the driver, Peter M. Wyckoff, 67, of Port Byron, NY, it was determined that he displayed a Glock 43 9mm handgun, which was loaded with 6 rounds, during a road rage incident with a tractor trailer driver.

Wyckoff was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Syracuse.  Further investigation revealed Wyckoff has a valid pistol permit allowing him to legally possess the gun.  He was subsequently charged with Menacing (with a weapon) in the 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor and was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Van Buren Court on March 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
