Milan, New York – On August 6, 2020, the New York State Police with assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jayshawn J. Brayboy, age 19, of Queens, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, and Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a 2019 Dodge Challenger on the Taconic State Parkway for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  The operator of the vehicle failed to comply and led Troopers on a pursuit southbound on the Taconic State Parkway.  Spike strips were utilized to slow the vehicle in the area of Salt Point Turnpike successfully.  The operator however continued to operate the vehicle and exited the Parkway onto State Route 44 eastbound.  He lost control of the vehicle and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle before crossing Route 44 and fleeing on foot. 

The suspect later identified as, Jayshawn Brayboy, was then taken into custody without further incident by a Dutchess County Sheriff’s Deputy on Masten Road in the town of Pleasant Valley.

Investigation determined the 2019 Dodge Challenger was reported stolen out of New York City. 

Brayboy was arraigned before the town of Milan Court and released on his own recognizance with a return date of October 1, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.  Broyboy was then turned over to the Saratoga Sheriff’s Office due to an active warrant for his arrest.
