Bedford, New York – On September 5, 2019, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Begnauth Renseroop, age 23, of Queens, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree, a class E felony, Unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., Troopers patrolling on Interstate 684 in the town of Bedford initiated a traffic stop on a northbound taxi for an infraction of the vehicle and traffic law.  The operator of the 2019 Toyota Camry failed to comply, and led State Police on a 12-mile pursuit.  During the pursuit, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department broadcasted a report of a stolen vehicle with a matching description.  The vehicle was eventually stopped at the end of Interstate 684 intersecting with State Route 22.  The sole occupant and operator, identified as Renseroop, was taken into custody without further incident.

Renseroop was arraigned before the town of Somers Court, and was remanded by the Honorable Judge Timone to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $3,000 secure bond.  Renseroop is next scheduled to appear before the town of Bedford Court on September 11, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.
