On April 24, 2021, the New York State Police in Granville arrested 33-year-old Gary S. Carpenter of Queensbury, for Criminal Contempt 1st degree and Aggravated Family Offense, both are class E felonies.

State police stopped Carpenter for a series of traffic infractions as he traveled on State Route 4 in Whitehall at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Saturday. When Troopers spoke with Carpenter and his passenger, they discovered that the passenger had a full stay away order of protection against Carpenter. Carpenter was taken into custody for violating the order and was transported to SP Granville for processing.

Carpenter was transported to Washington County Lockup to await arraignment.
