On Monday, June 17th, 2019, the New York State Police arrested a Rensselaer man after he struck a vehicle and left the scene of the accident. 

State Police Investigators based out of the Latham Barracks stated that Anthony Payne, age 35, of Rensselaer, was arrested after traveling at a high rate of speed on city of Albany streets, striking a vehicle, then leaving the scene.  New York State Troopers located the vehicle that Payne was driving a short time later.  After further investigation, Payne was also located at his residence, and taken into custody without incident. 

Payne is charged with violating his Parole conditions, a felony, several misdemeanors, including Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, and several vehicle and traffic law violations.  Payne was arraigned in the City of Albany Court, and remanded to the Albany County Jail on $3,500 cash bail/bond.
