PRESS RELEASE

On May 2, 2020 at approximately 6:00 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs responded to the report of an ATV accident with injuries at County Road 32 and Salt Springville Road in the town of Cherry Valley.

When the trooper arrived, the driver of the ATV was unconscious on the shoulder of County Road 32.  The driver of the ATV is identified as Amber M. Girard, age 46 of Cherry Valley, NY.  A bystander who identified as a nurse assisted in monitoring Girard’s vitals until EMS arrived.  State Police were assisted by Cherry Valley Fire and EMS, Springville EMS and Richfield Springs EMS.   Girard was subsequently airlifted by Life Net to Albany Medical Center where she remains in serious but stable condition.

An investigation revealed that Girard was operating the ATV at a high rate of speed on Salt Springville Road when she lost control, rolled the ATV and was ejected off of it near the intersection of County Road 32.  She was not wearing a helmet.

The investigation is on-going.
