Bronx, New York – On October 19, 2020 at approximately 2:25 p.m., Sergeants from SP Bronx arrested Devontae Jefferson and Angel Sang, both age 20, of Queens, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree – a class C felony, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree – a class D felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child – a class A misdemeanor.

While in the parking lot of SP Bronx, the Sergeants were approached by two men who stated that their vehicle was shot at while traveling on the Cross Bronx Expressway following a road rage incident. The men provided the Sergeants with a description of the suspect vehicle, and, shortly thereafter, the Sergeants located the vehicle nearby where Jefferson, Sang and an infant were present. Troop NYC BCI responded to the scene and, through further investigation, a 9mm handgun, along with a loaded magazine and one loose round were located inside of the vehicle.  Neither Jefferson nor Sang legally possessed the weapon and both suspects were subsequently arrested.  The infant was released into the care of a family member.

Sang and Jefferson were processed at the 45th Precinct with the assistance of NYPD Detectives and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Additionally, Jefferson was charged with Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree due violating an Order of Protection which prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Sang was separately charged with being a Fugitive of Justice due to having an active warrant from the State of Florida for failing to appear in court. Both suspects were remanded to Bronx Central Booking pending arraignment.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
