Rochester man crashes after fleeing traffic stop

On Mach 17, 2023, at about 11:00 p.m., a state trooper attempted to stop a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser for no license plates on Lake Avenue in the city of Rochester. The driver failed to comply, shut off the headlights and drove off at a high rate of speed. 

The suspect vehicle was located  a short time later after it was involved in a crash. The investigation determined that the driver of the PT Cruiser, Adam C. Schafer, 29, of Rochester, crossed into on-coming traffic and struck a 2012 Ford Focus head-on. Schafer was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The operator of the Ford Focus was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.  Criminal Charges are pending.
