PRESS RELEASE

Brant, NY - On June 28, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., State Police responded to I-90 in the town of Brant, for a menacing complaint.  The investigation determined the driver of a 2019 Kia station wagon, Portia M. Henderson, 21, of Rochester, NY, threw an object at another patron’s car while entering a construction zone.  When the patron pulled over to inspect their vehicle for damage, Henderson approached the driver with a large machete type knife and was pulling the trigger on a stun gun.

All parties got back in their vehicles and the patron followed Henderson’s vehicle at a safe distance and reported the incident.  Buffalo Troopers located and stopped Henderson’s vehicle just prior to exiting the Thruway at the Lackawana toll plaza.  State Police located the weapons used to threaten the other driver inside her vehicle.  The driver was not injured during the confrontation.

Henderson was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Buffalo where she was charged with Menacing 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Firearm/Knife) 4th degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon with Intent to Use 4th degree; all Class A Misdemeanors.

Henderson was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Brant Court on July 23, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
