PRESS RELEASE

On May 31, 2021, State Police arrested Joshua B. Sharon, age 29, from Rome, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, a class “D” felony and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, a class  “A” Misdemeanor.

On May 31, 2021, at 4:13 a.m., Troopers observed a vehicle, a black 2015 Ford pickup truck, on Skinner Road that matched the description of a reported stolen vehicle that just occurred in the Town of Vernon.  They activated their emergency lights and siren in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle refused to comply and began fleeing patrol.

The vehicle operator drove recklessly in an attempt to evade patrol and eventually turned onto Livermore Road, a private dirt road, in the Town of Madison. The operator struck a boat/trailer on the side of the road and continued onto a dirt path, where the vehicle became disabled. The operator, who later identified himself to be Joshua B. Sharon, complied and exited the vehicle. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Sharon was processed at SP Oneida and was released on his own recognizance. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the initial stolen vehicle complaint.
