Schodack, NY – On August 29, 2020, at approximately 8:40 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 of the Berkshire Spur Thruway, for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established. 

 

During the vehicle search Trooper’s discovered a total of approximately 10.8 grams of heroin, a Smith & Wesson M&P .380 pistol, a Ruger 9mm pistol, a ZIG M1911-A1 .45 pistol, a SCCY 9mm pistol, and a 9mm magazine loaded with 6 rounds.  All the handguns were defaced with the serial numbers scratched off and loaded.

 

The driver, Alexis E. Miranda, 25, of Rome, NY, did not have a NY pistol permit and was taken into custody.  She was transported to SP Albany where she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree with Intent to Sell; a Class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree; a Class C Felony, 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm); a Class C Felony, and 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (defaced for concealment); a Class D Felony.  

 

Miranda was arraigned before the Town of Schodack Court and was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or bond.  A preliminary hearing is set for September 2, 2020.
