Rushford man arrested for DWAI-Drugs in Freedom

On April 18, 2019, SP Machias Troopers arrested Andrew J. Worthington, 24, of Rushford, NY for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container.

Troopers investigating a report of a vehicle parked partially in the roadway on Maple Grove Road in the town of Freedom, observed Worthington, the operator of the vehicle, exhibiting obvious signs of impairment. He was also found to be in possession of suboxone, for which he did not have a prescription. Worthington subsequently failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. He was arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.00% BAC. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluation revealed him to be impaired.

Worthington was arraigned in Freedom Town Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $500 bail or $1,000 bond. He is due to reappear in that court in May.
