On June 2, 2020, State Police arrested Rylan Christy, 19, of Saranac Lake, after he made a threat of violence via social media.

Christy posted a photo of himself holding a firearm on Snapchat with a caption that he was going to shoot at protesters at a scheduled event in Saranac Lake.  He was charged with Falsely Reporting a Crime, Catastrophe, or Emergency 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable in the Town of Franklin Court.

State Police were assisted by the Saranac Lake Police Department.
