PRESS RELEASE

New York State Police are warning residents of a scam.

New York State Police at Ithaca have received several calls that someone is contacting residents in Tompkins County and identifying themselves as a trooper and that you are a victim of a scam.  The person says they need to collect information from you.  The number they are calling from is spoofed and actually shows up as the number to the Tompkins County 911 Center but it is NOT any one from law enforcement.

Please be aware and do not fall victim.  Do not give any information over the phone.  Hang up and call the Tompkins County 911 Center at (607)347-4440 and verify that a trooper or another member of law enforcement is looking to contact you.
