PRESS RELEASE
 

Athens, NY – On July 29, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m., State Police stopped a car on I-87 in the town of Athens for a vehicle and traffic violation.  While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle was established.  The driver, Erick J. Olivera, 34, of Schenectady, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 102 grams of cocaine.

Olivera was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Catskill where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree; a Class A Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell 3rd degree; a Class B Felony.  He was arraigned before the Town of Catskill Court where he was remanded to Greene County Jail without bail due to having two prior felony convictions.  Olivera is to return to Court on August 8, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
