Schenectady man charged with Leandra's Law, twice legal limit

On February 14, 2021, State Police in Princetown arrested 51-year-old Charles T. Murphy Jr. of Schenectady, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated-Leandra’s Law (E felony).

State Police stopped Murphy for a series of traffic infractions as he traveled on I-890 in Schenectady Sunday afternoon. When the Trooper spoke with Murphy, they could smell the odor of alcohol and observed signs of impairment, as well as an open alcoholic beverage. They also observed that there was a young child in vehicle. Murphy was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody.

Murphy was transported to SP Princetown where he provided a breath sample of .16% B.A.C. He is due in Schenectady City on March 18, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.
