On July 29, 2020, State Police in Clifton Park arrested David L. Bennett, 32, of Schenectady, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (misdemeanor), two counts of Leandra‚Äôs Law (E felony), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A misdemeanor), and two counts of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd degree (A misdemeanor). 

Troopers responded to a report of a hit and run accident at approximately 6:17 p.m. on Grooms Road in the town of Clifton Park. A vehicle had driven off the roadway causing property damage and then left the scene. A patrol located the vehicle nearby, and observed that the driver, David Bennett, displayed signs of impairment.

Bennett was administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and showed signs indicative of impairment. A 10-year-old and 6-year-old child were passengers in the vehicle that he was operating, and both were the protected parties in a full stay away order of protection against Bennett. 

Bennett was placed into custody and transported to SP Clifton Park where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. He is scheduled to appear in the Clifton Park Town Court on September 9, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
