Albany, NY – On February 1, 2021, at approximately 1:35 p.m., State Police were dispatched to a one-car property damage accident on I-90 in the city of Albany.  The responding Trooper arrived on scene to find a Kia station wagon had driven off the roadway.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle appeared to be unconscious and approximately 3.5 grams of heroin was observed next to the driver in the center console.  The Trooper quickly removed the man from the driver’s seat and began to render aid.  Moments later, EMS arrived on scene and administered one dose of Narcan with successful results. 

 

The driver, Max W. Luciani, 33, of Scotia, NY, regained consciousness and was transported by EMS to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.  Luciani was determined to be impaired by drugs and submitted to a blood draw to determine the drug content in his system. 

 

Additionally, Luciani has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result, he was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs; a Class E Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor.  He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the City of Albany Court on February 25, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
