PRESS RELEASE                                               

On October 20, 2021 the New York State Police arrested Benjamin F. Jones 32 of Amherst, NY for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree (D Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd  (B Felony) 2 counts, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Loaded Weapon (C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree (2 counts).

Jones was arrested following a traffic stop in the town of Amherst and the execution of a search warrant at his vehicle and person. A subsequent search of a residence yielded the U.S. currency and the narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, members of the New York State Police Violent Gang & Narcotics Enforcement Team (VGNET), New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) and Amherst Police Department seized a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol, numerous drugs which included crack cocaine, ecstasy pills, drug paraphernalia and approximately $5,000 in U.S. Currency.

Jones was transferred to the Amherst Police Department pending arraignment on October 21, 2021.
