State Police to open additional security lanes at New York State Capital
In an effort to streamline security screening at the New York State Capital, the New York State Police will triple the number of open security checkpoint lanes and provide additional staff on days when a higher than usual number of visitors are anticipated during legislative session days. The change will take effect when the legislative session resumes following Easter break, on April 29. (more)

Troopers respond to nearly 1,100 crashes during winter storm
The New York State Police responded to nearly 1,100 motor vehicle crashes and issued more than 600 travel ban tickets during the winter storm that affected much of the state last week. (more)

State Police to increase DWI enforcement during Super Bowl Weekend
The New York State Police will join local law enforcement agencies across the state in an effort to crack down on impaired driving during Super Bowl weekend.

The STOP-DWI campaign will include underage drinking enforcement, increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers. The campaign runs from Saturday, February 2 until 4 a.m. on Monday, February 4. (more)
