PRESS RELEASE

On August 27th, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Jemini Merzweiler, 24, of Sherman, for Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Harassment 2nd Degree.

The Troopers and Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence in Sherman for a report of a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that during an argument between Merzweiler and the victim, Merzweiler pushed the victim to the ground and struck her in the face. When the victim attempted to call 911, Merzweiler took and hid her phone. This all occurred in violation of a refrain-from order protecting the victim against Merzweiler. Merzweiler was placed under arrest, processed at SP Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail. On August 28th, the Troopers responded to the same address in Sherman for a violation of an order of protection. Investigation revealed that Merzweiler arrived at the victim’s residence after being served a stay-away order since his most recent arrest. Merzweiler was placed under arrest, processed at SP Jamestown, and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
