Cornwall, NY – On February 11, 2021, at approximately 5:25 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the town of Cornwall for a vehicle and traffic violation. While interviewing the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle and the occupants was established. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Springfield Armory XDS-9, 9mm handgun, and a Springfield Armory magazine loaded with 7, 9mm rounds.
The driver, Israel Davis, 25, and passenger Malick Davis, 22, both of Hemingway, SC, were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Newburgh.
Israel Davis was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor. Due to a previous conviction, Malick Davis was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree; a Class D Felony, and both men were charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm; a Class E Felony.
The pair were released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cornwall Court on March 10, 2021.
