On September 27, 2019, State Police in Latham arrested 34-year-old Jessica L. Sweet of Schenectady, and 28-year-old Everett B. Williams of Lansingburgh with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree- Intent to Sell (B felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor), and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia ( A misedemeanor). Sweet was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana 2nd degree.
Shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Troopers stopped a speeding vehicle on I-90 east in the city of Albany. When the Trooper began speaking with the driver, Jessica Sweet, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and observed multiple burned marijuana cigarettes in plain view in the center console.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed that Sweet and her passenger Everett Williams, were in possession of approximately 15 grams of cocaine and approximately 15 grams of marijuana. When Troopers searched Sweet herself, they also located rolled up dollar bill containing cocaine residue, and a second dollar bill that was folded up, containing less than a gram of cocaine.
Sweet and Everette were placed in custody and transported to SP Latham for processing. They were arraigned in Albany City Court. Sweet was remanded to Albany County without bail, Williams was remanded on $5,000 cash or bond.
