The driver of the 1998 Toyota Camry, who died at the scene, has been identified as Marvin Balcaseres, 33 years-old of Farmingdale, NY.

 

The driver of the 2011 Nissan Rogue, who died at the scene, has been identified as Ruben Sanchez-Flores, 67 years-old of Hempstead, NY.

 

Passenger of the Nissan Rogue, who died at the scene, has been identified as Edith Magana, 56 years-old of Hempstead, NY.

 

The second passenger of the Nissan Rogue, who died at the scene, has been identified as Ivis Sanchez-Cordova, 34 years-old of Hempstead, NY.

 

The third passenger of the Nissan Rogue, who was seriously injured, has been identified as Nadia Sanchez-Cordova, 44 years-old of Hempstead, NY.  

 

The driver of the 2011 Suzuki SUV, who was uninjured, has been identified as Steven Miller, 50 years-old of Queens, NY.

 

The driver of the 2000 Honda motorcycle, who was injured, has been identified as Roberto Mack, 32 years-old of Conyers, GA.

At approximately 5:10am the State Police received calls for a collision on the Southern State Parkway in the eastbound lanes.  Moments prior, a 911 call was made for a wrong way driver.  A Toyota Sedan, with the driver as the sole occupant, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck an SUV traveling eastbound, with four occupants, head on.  A third vehicle, an SUV, which the driver was the only occupant, attempted to avoid the collision and struck the Toyota sedan.  A motorcyclist also attempted to avoid the collision and lost control of the motorcycle striking debris from the collision. 

The driver of the sedan and three occupants of the SUV all died at the scene and the fourth occupant is in serious condition.  The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured and the motorcyclist was injured with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further information will be released pending notification.

The Southern State Parkway has been reopened.

The State Police will be holding a press conference at 2:00pm at Troop L Headquarters in East Farmingdale.

On Tuesday September 15, 2020, at approximately 5:10 am, the State Police are currently investigating a multi-vehicle collision, with multiple-fatalities which occurred on the Southern State Parkway eastbound, in the area of exit 29, in the town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County.    

The Southern State Parkway is currently closed eastbound and traffic is being diverted at exit 27. 

The cause of the collision is under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
