On September 12, 2020, at 8:11 P.M., the Town of Webb Police Department was dispatched to a two-boat collision on Fourth Lake.

The preliminary investigation determined that 22-year-old Carter Lawrence was operating a vessel with one passenger when he struck another vessel occupied by three adult males and (2) six-year-old children. The two children and one adult were transported via Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital, where they are in critical condition. The other adult male was transported to St. Lukes Hospital with serious injuries.

Carter W. Lawrence, from Old Forge, NY, was arrested for operating a vessel while impaired (BWI) and Vehicular Assault 1st degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Webb Court and was remanded to Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The Town of Webb Police Department was assisted by the Herkimer County Sheriff Office, New York State Police, Herkimer County District Attorney Office, Old Forge Fire Dept, Eagle Bay Ambulance, Inlet Ambulance, and Mercy Flight.

The investigation is ongoing.
