State Police arrest Albany man after he threw an illegally possessed gun out of a moving car

On March 16, 2023, State Police of Latham arrested Alexander T. Wilson, 30, of Albany, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. 

On March 16, 2023, at about 10:53 a.m. Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-90 in Albany, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver initially gave false identifying information but was later identified as Wilson. Just before the stop, a tow truck operator observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed with the Trooper following. The tow truck operator observed what appeared to be a handgun thrown from the moving vehicle and immediately flagged down another Trooper who was assisting them with an unrelated matter. That Trooper located and secured a loaded handgun and notified the Trooper who stopped the vehicle in question.  It was determined Wilson illegally possessed the firearm prior to discarding it out the window.

Wilson was arrested and transported to SP Latham for processing. He was arraigned at the Albany City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
