PRESS RELEASE

 

Bethlehem, NY - On May 28, 2021, at approximately 9:15 a.m., State Police received a BOLO (be on the lookout) for a 2015 Ford Econoline CDTA bus, which was reported stolen by the City of Albany Police Department.  The bus entered the New York State Thruway at exit 24 Albany, and traveled south.  

At approximately 9:37 a.m., Troopers out of SP Albany spotted the stolen bus on I-87 about 3 miles south of exit 23, where a traffic stop was conducted at mile marker 138.3.  The driver, Jonnathan B. Bonaparte, 29, of Albany, NY, was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Albany.  He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree (value of property exceeds $3,000); a Class D Felony and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree (stolen vehicle); a Class E Felony.  

Bonaparte was arraigned before the Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to Albany County Jail without bail due to two prior felony convictions.  A return court date of June 1, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. has been set.
