NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Eric L. Laughton
On August 19th, 2020, a joint operation with State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Postal Inspectors resulted in a search warrant being executed, at a residence in the town of Hopewell NY, Ontario County. State Police arrested 42 year-old Mark W. Adams for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (Class C Felony), for possession of a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in the vehicle he was operating. The illegal pistol Adams was found to possess, is referred to as a “ghost gun”, as it has no serial number and is made with unfinished frames, parts, and receivers, making it essentially untraceable.
State Police Investigators and Federal Agents also found a cache of firearms, ammunition, firearm parts, and high capacity magazines, along with specific tools and jigs to manufacture and assemble firearms. Weapons seized include; six assault rifles (two of them untraceable “ghost guns”); two additional untraceable semi-automatic 9 mm “ghost gun” pistols; four rifles; three shot guns; numerous frames, receivers, barrels, uppers and lowers in varying states of assembly; multiple firearm silencers; and thousands of rounds of ammunition in a variety of calibers.
The investigation is continuing, as Investigators sort and inspect the large amount of evidence
