On February 20, 2023, State Police assigned to the Northway Interstate Highway Patrol, arrested Steven T. Stangle, 40, of Ballston, NY, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

On February 20, 2023, at about 10:54 a.m. Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Clifton Park for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  Stangle was identified as the driver, and the investigation determined his driver’s license was revoked due to a previous DWI conviction.  Stangle also possessed controlled substances during the stop and tried to conceal them from the Trooper and destroy evidence.

Stangle was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluated him. A sample was taken to determine the drug content of his blood upon completion of the evaluation which indicated he was under the influence of drugs.  Stangle was arraigned before the Clifton Park Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
