PRESS RELEASE

On May 11, 2022, at approximately 7:30 PM, State Police received a report of an individual stealing a car from a location on State Route 3, in the town of Plattsburgh.  After police responded to the scene, it was determined an unidentified male suspect threatened a vehicle operator with a knife and then stole the victim’s truck.

The Plattsburgh Police Department located the stolen vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the city of Plattsburgh.  Upon the vehicle failing to comply, it fled the city of Plattsburgh and would eventually exit State Route 9, in the town of Beekmantown, where the vehicle became disabled.  Responding units from the Plattsburgh Police Department, New York State Police, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department took the operator into custody and identified him as Dennis J. Clukey, 31, from Clinton County.

Clukey was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court on multiple charges, to include Robbery 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree.  The defendant was ordered held in the Clinton County Jail without bail and he is due back in court on May 17th, 2022, at 4:00 PM.
