State Police arrest Fort Edward couple following a contactor theft investigation

On March 16, 2023, State Police in Greenwich arrested Mark A. Hafner II, 37, of Fort Edward, NY, and Megan A. Hafner, 37, of Fort Edward, NY, both from Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” felony. 

On October 19, 2022, at about 7:00 p.m., Trooper received a complaint that a General Contractor stole money meant to pay subcontractors. The investigation determined the victim hired “Property Pro Builders LLC.” to act as the general contractor and oversee the building of a home in Fort Ann, NY. The company is owned and operated by Mark Hafner and Megan Hafner. The Hafners withdrew funds from a construction loan meant to pay subcontractors for completed work but failed to fully reimburse them, which resulted in the couple keeping over $45,000. 

Both surrendered themselves to SP Granville for processing. They were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Fort Ann Court on March 22, 2023, and released.
