PRESS RELEASE

On September 18, 2022, State Police arrested Thomas Croote III, 40, of Duanesburg, NY, for Unauthorized use of a Vehicle in the Third Degree and Petit Larceny.

On September 8, 2022, at about 10:41 a.m.  Troopers received a complaint that Croote had taken a vehicle without the owner’s permission.  An investigation determined Croote took a family member’s car in the early morning hours from a home in Duanesburg without their permission and failed to return it.

On September 18, 2022, Troopers located Croote with the vehicle at the Stewart’s Shop in Rotterdam, NY.  When he was taken into custody, Croote had just stolen $25 worth of gasoline from the store.  The owner has retrieved the vehicle.

Croote was transported to SP Princetown for processing.  He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the court on a later date.  Croote was then turned over to the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office for pending charges with that agency.
