Fishkill, New York – On February 21, 2020, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested James C. Haggerty Jr., age 38, of Fishkill, for Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a class C felony, Vehicular Assault in the 1st degree, a class D felony, two counts of Vehicular Assault in the 2nd degree, a class E felony, Driving While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving, both unclassified misdemeanors.

On June 30, 2017, Troopers responded to State Route 52 and Colonial Avenue in the village of Fishkill for a three-car serious motor vehicle crash.  Investigation at the scene revealed James Haggarty, westbound in a 2004 Scion, passed a westbound vehicle in a no passing zone, and struck two oncoming vehicles in the eastbound lane.  Two victims suffered serious injuries as a result.  Haggarty’s blood alcohol content was found to be 0.17%.

With the assistance of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office subpoenas were obtained for medical records, and the case was heard before a Grand Jury who voted in favor of indictment.    

James Haggarty was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the village of Fishkill Court on February 24, 2020, at 9:30 a.m.
