Pleasant Valley, New York – On April 14, 2020, the New York State Police arrested four Devereux Foundation employees following an investigation that began on March 26, 2020.

Initially Troopers responded to Gretna Road in the town of Pleasant Valley to assist with the transportation of a Devereux client to Vassar Hospital.  Investigation found the victim had fallen two days prior on March 24, 2020, and received serious injuries.  The Devereux employees failed to report the incident when it occurred, failed to seek proper medical treatment for the victim, and intentionally omitted information from business records in order to cover up the incident.  All four employees involved were subsequently arrested.

Jason J. Fearon, age 24, of Poughkeepsie was arrested for Endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the 1st degree, a class E felony, and Falsifying Business Records in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.  

Trent D. Carney, age 30, of Hyde Park was arrested for Endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the 1st degree, a class E felony.

Stokely Watson, age 49, of Poughkeepsie was arrested for Endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Deborah J. Singler, age 54, of Poughkeepsie was arrested for Endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

All four subjects were issued Appearance Tickets returnable to the town of Pleasant Valley Court on June 18, 2020, at 5:30 p.m.
