On July 29, 2020 at approximately 11:45 p.m. State Police Monroe stopped a 2013 BMW traveling west on State Route 17 in Monroe for vehicle and traffic law violations. The operator of the vehicle, Mark Nelson, age 30, was determined to be intoxicated and operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Further investigation revealed that Nelson’s license was revoked because of a previous alcohol related offense and he was required to have an interlock steering device. There was no interlock steering device on the vehicle. He was also operating the vehicle with an infant in the vehicle. He was charged with Aggravated DWI and Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law). He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Monroe Court on August 10, 2020.
