On November 25, 2022, State Police arrested James M. Alderman, 36 of Charleston, NC, and Laura K. Alderman, 34 of Johns Island, NC for Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 2nd, and Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th.
On November 25, 2022, around 5:09 p.m. Troopers were traveling on State Route 3, in the town of Harrietstown, attempting to locate a report of an erratic operator traveling in a black Ford F150. Troopers located the vehicle and identified the operator as; James M. Alderman and the passenger was identified as Laura K. Alderman. While interacting with James, the troopers observed him exhibiting obvious signs of impairment. He was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which indicative of impairment. James was arrested and transported to SP Ray Brook for processing. Laura was asked to exit the vehicle while the troopers conducted an inventory of the vehicle. In the center console of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was located. Laura was arrested and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to SP Ray Brook for processing.
At the station a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation confirmed James was impaired.
James Alderman was charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 2nd, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th, and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Laura Alderman was charged with Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 2nd, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 7th. James and Laura Alderman were arraigned in the Town of Harrietstown where they both were remanded to Franklin County Jail without bail.
