State police arrest a Pennsylvania man for possession of cocaine following a traffic stop.

On January 5, 2021 at approximately 11:15 a.m., state troopers patrolling State Route 17 in the town of Wallkill observed a 2009 BMW in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Ronald S. Helvy, age 36 of East Stroudsburg, PA. While interviewing Helvy troopers discovered he was in possession of approximately 102 grams of powder cocaine. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree-Intent to Sell and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree-possession, both felonies . He was arraigned virtually in front of City Judge Trachte in the City of Newburgh Court and released on his own recognizance with a return date of January 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Town of Wallkill Court.
