On January 17, 2023, State Police of Wilton arrested Alexander Marcano, 43, of Schenectady, NY, for Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.

On January 17, 2023, at about 11:19 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on State Route 9 in Moreau, NY, for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Marcano, and it was determined he did not have a valid driver’s license.  Marcano failed to follow the Trooper’s commands and fled in the vehicle.  A vehicle pursuit was initiated, which ended when Marcano lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the shoulder of State Route 9 in Wilton, NY.  Marcano then fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody with the assistance of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department. He continued to actively resist while being arrested. Further investigation located what appeared to be a handgun in the vehicle, it was later determined to be a pellet gun.

Marcano was transported to SP Wilton for processing. He was arraigned at the Moreau Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

Marcano and the vehicle involved in this incident match the description of a suspect involved in multiple local commercial armed robberies, and the investigation is ongoing.
