On November 16, 2022, State Police of Clifton Park, with the assistance of the Saratoga Springs Police Department, arrested Penny L. Richards, 47, of Ballston Spa, for three counts of Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree and Trever M. Murphy, 42, of Ballston Spa for five counts of Grand larceny in the Third Degree, two counts of Auto Stripping in the First Degree, Six counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, two counts of Possession of Burglar’s Tool and two counts of Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree.

State Police received multiple complaints in October 2022 of Catalytic Converters cut and stolen from vehicles parked at businesses in the Clifton Park, NY, and Halfmoon, NY area. With the assistance of the Saratoga Springs Police Department, the investigation determined Murphy removed and stole the automobile parts with the aid of Richards. The damages caused during these crimes are estimated to be over $30,000.

Both were transported to SP Clifton Park on November 16, 2022, for processing. They were arraigned at the Halfmoon Town Court and returned to the Saratoga County Correctional facility where they are being held on additional charges.
