On Saturday, September 12, 2020, at approximately 3:35 pm, a trooper attempted to stop a Chevrolet Camaro on the Sagtikos Parkway south of Pine Aire Drive, that had recently fled from Suffolk County Police. While the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator fled and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle exited at Pine Aire Drive, lost control and struck a guide rail. The driver, Joel Foster, 32 years-old of West Babylon, NY, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but was ultimately taken into custody by troopers, assisted by Suffolk County Police. Foster was transported to Southside Hospital for minor injuries and released. Investigation revealed Foster was in possession of cocaine and was held overnight to be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on September 13, 2020.
Foster is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell 3rd degree (B-Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (B-Felony) and Unlawful Fleeing 3rd Degree (A-Misdemeanor).
