Town of Mamakating- State police announce the arrest of Brian K. Scott, age 21 from the town of Mamakating for Attempted Murder 2nd degree, a felony.
On February 3, 2022, at approximately 2:43 p.m., State Police from the Wurtsboro barracks were responding to Locust Trail in the town of Wurtsboro for a report of an assault. While en route to the location troopers received numerous calls about a white male walking on Locust Trail, wearing a black mask and carrying a shotgun. Troopers located the subject at the intersection of Firnwood Road and Locust Trail. Upon seeing the troopers, the subject, later identified as Brian Scott, offered no resistance and was taken into custody. He was not in possession of the shotgun when he was located by troopers. The shotgun was later found in a snowbank.
Investigation revealed that Scott went to a local residence and asked for directions and if he could use the bathroom. Once inside the residence he attacked the homeowner with a knife stabbing him repeatedly. He then fled the residence with a shotgun from the residence. The homeowner was treated and released from the hospital.
Scott was remanded to Sullivan County Jail without bail.
