On November 15, 2020 at approximately 10:23 p.m., State Police Montgomery observed a Nissan Altima traveling south on William Street in the city of Newburgh in violation of a New York State vehicle and traffic law violation. Troopers stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as an 18 year old from the city of Newburgh. The operator did not have a valid driver’s license. While searching the vehicle, troopers found cocaine and a digital scale. The operator was placed into custody and placed in the front seat of the trooper’s vehicle. While in the vehicle, the suspect became agitated and kicked the windshield of the troop car causing it to shatter. The teen was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, both felonies and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, a misdemeanor. The teen was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Newburgh Court on November 17, 2020 at 9:30 a.m.
