On Saturday 02/13/2021, BCI Investigators in Princetown arrested 46-year-old Stacy A. Provost for Forgery 2nd degree (D felony) and attempted Identity Theft 3rd degree (A misdemeanor) following a nearly year-long investigation.
State Police arrested Stacy A. Provost following a report in February of 2020 that someone applied for numerous credit cards in the name of a recently deceased person. In total, eleven attempts made to obtain credit cards which resulted in two fraudulent credit cards being issued. Investigation led to the arrest of Provost after it was determined she impersonated the deceased acquaintance and made the fraudulent applications. The fraudulent accounts were able to be identified and closed prior to any fraudulent purchases occurring.
Provost turned herself in to Troopers on Saturday and was formally charged. She was released on an appearance ticket returnable in Rotterdam Town Court on February 25th, 2021.
