PRESS RELEASE

On March 13, 2023, the New York State Police, Troop B conducted an Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation in Clinton County. During the operation 18 businesses were checked, 16 were in compliance and two sold to the underage operative.

 

The Following businesses were in compliance:

 

Dollar General- Willsboro

Valero-County Store- Willsboro

Village Meat Market-Willsboro

Wooden Nickel-Lewis

Kinney Drugs-Elizabethtown

Tops-Elizabethtown

Stewarts-Elizabethtown

Tennybrook-Mobil-Westport

Port Henry Mobil-Port Henry

Stewarts-Port Henry

Dollar General-Port Henry

511-Mobil-Crown Point

Walgreens-Ticonderoga

Mobil-Ticonderoga

Stewarts-Ticonderoga

Montacalm-Mini Mart-Ticonderoga

 

 

The following location was found NOT to be in compliance with the laws dealing with the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21:

Gover Hills Deli, Mineville- Arthur K. Morgan, age 50 of Mineville, NY was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st degree (PL 160.20) and Prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under twenty-one years old (ABC 65-1).

Maplefields, Ticonderoga- Gonyea M. Austin, age 23 of Ticonderogawas charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st degree (PL 160.20) and Prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under twenty-one years old (ABC 65-1).

 

During these investigations, businesses are checked utilizing a trooper in plainclothes, and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.  When asked for ID, they must show their real ID.
