On May 13, 2022, at approximately 7:54 p.m. State Police in Rochester working Operation G.I.V.E., ( Gun Involved Violence Elimination) observed a vehicle with both the driver and front passenger not wearing their seat belts. Troopers pulled over this vehicle on Hollenbeck Street and spoke to the driver and passenger, Brandon Statham, age 30, of Rochester, NY.
Neither occupants had a driver license and were asked to exit the vehicle. As front passenger Brandon Statham exited the vehicle, he was found to possess a plastic bag of crack cocaine in his pants pocket and MDMA pills. In his other pants pocket Troopers located a .380 handgun that was loaded with 5 rounds.
Statham was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, for the handgun, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, for having previous convictions, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, for the MDMA pills, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, for the crack cocaine.
Statham was transported to Monroe County Jail for arraignment on May 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
