Columbia County, New York - On February 18, 2021 the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative throughout Columbia County.  During this Underage Drinking Initiative, twelve retail establishments were checked for compliance utilizing a Trooper in plainclothes and an underage operative utilizing a valid NY Driver’s License.  This operation led to the arrest of two men for violating the NYS Alcohol Beverage Control Law for selling alcohol to a minor.

Scott W. Folmsbee, age 50, of Stuyvesant, NY, employed at the Xtra Mart Gas Station on Route 9 in Kinderhook, was issued an appearance ticket for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, a class A misdemeanor, returnable to the Kinderhook Town Court on March 16, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.

Tyler N. Briggs, age 22, of Canaan, NY, employed at Love’s Truck Stop on Route 22 in Canaan, was issued an appearance ticket for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, a class A misdemeanor, returnable to the Canaan Town Court on March 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

In addition, both businesses face possible civil penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.

The New York State Police routinely conducts underage drinking enforcement operations throughout the state in an effort to curb alcohol abuse and DWI incidents involving teenagers.
