On June 7, 2022, at approximately 9:08 p.m., the State Police out of Big Flats conducted a traffic stop of a motorist on Grand Central Avenue in the town of Horseheads.  While interviewing the driver, Kelly A. Newton, age 53, from Pine Valley, the trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Newton. 

Newton then submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, subsequently failing them. 

Newton was transported back to SP Horseheads where she provided a breath test, with a reported value of .11% BAC.  Newtown was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and given an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Horseheads Court on June 28, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.
