State Police in Horseheads arrest a Van Etten man for DWI.

On April 6, 2022, at approximately 8:08 p.m., State Police in Big Flats conducted a traffic stop on Warner Street in the town of Van Etten. Troopers identified the operator, Allan E. Smith, age 45, from Van Etten.  While interviewing Smith, the trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Smith along with other signs of intoxication.  Smith submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, subsequently failing them. 

Smith was transported back to SP Horseheads where he submitted to a breath test, that had a reported value of .13% BAC. Smith was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and given an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Van Etten Court on April 27, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
