On March 11, 2023, at about 5:55 a.m. State Police of Clifton Park responded to the reports of a one-car crash on State Route 146 in Clifton Park, NY. Upon arrival, the vehicle was determined to be unoccupied. The investigation located the registered owner James J. Vreeland, 35, of Schenectady, NY, at a nearby business and determined he was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and was uninjured. Vreeland was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Clifton Park, where further investigation determined Vreeland has a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years and did not have a valid driver’s license. He was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and refused to provide a sample to determine the drug content of his blood following the evaluation. Vreeland was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on March 23, 2023, and released to a sober third party.
On March 11, 2023, at about 6:28 p.m. State Police of Wilton stopped a vehicle on State Route 9 in South Glens Falls, NY, for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as James E. Esqueda, 45, of Glens Falls, NY. Esqueda was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.29% BAC. The investigation also discovered Esqueda has a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years and does not have a valid driver’s license. Esqueda was issued tickets returnable to the Moreau Town Court on April 12, 2023. He was then turned over to the South Glens Falls Police Department for an outstanding warrant.
On March 12, 2023, at about 9:49 p.m. State Police of Wells stopped a vehicle on State Route 30 in Mayfield, NY, for multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Franklin M. Ochoa, 33, of Mayfield, NY. Ochoa was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra Law) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Three children under the age of 17 located in the vehicle at the time of the stop were turned over to a family member. Ochoa was transported to SP Mayfield, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. He was issued tickets returnable to the Mayfield Town Court on March 21, 2023, and released to a sober third party.
On March 12, 2023, at about 10:33 p.m. State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on Oakwood Road in Brunswick, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Todd Mutch, 43, of Troy, NY. Mutch was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.20% BAC. Mutch was issued tickets returnable to the Brunswick Town Court on March 22, 2023, and released to a sober third party.
