On September 10, 2020, at approximately 4:18 p.m. State Police responded to a residence on State Route 9, in the town of Elizabethtown for a report of an assault. 57-year-old Richard L. Lind of Elizabethtown, engaged in a physical altercation with two victims. He shoved one female victim and then stabbed another female victim in her shoulder. This all occurred in the presence of a 2-year-old child. The victim who sustained the knife wound was transported to the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, then later to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, where she has been treated and released.  

Lind was charged with Assault 2nd degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, and Harassment 2nd degree. He was arraigned in the Moriah Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Elizabethtown Court at a later date and time.
